When I first started doing Scarybird artwork, I had far too much work to do and Reptiliana at the time, needed doing pronto. Had to get someone really good in to cover for me. Enter my pal Rod Smith who stepped up and did Reptiliana I and it blew me away! Everyone loved the idea of ancient Egypt mixed with future cloning technology - all Rod's idea. Rod has gratiously given permission to show his work here. Big sloppy kisses (no tongues) - thanks Rodders.

Time passed on (nearly a year after!) and Reptiliana's story has taken a more Aztec or Sumarian flavour. So much so I was asked to recreate Reptiliana again. My friend had just come back from Mexico at the time I was asked , and they had some holiday photo's taken next to a giant Aztec calendar stone. Inspiration!
So i had the idea of making her like a chameleon, her skin trying to camouflage itself against an Aztec stone floor. The floor works, but the camouflage idea didn't, so I dived straight into a crusty skin texture (holy Bob that took ages!) and a more lizardy head. Ever seen that brilliant sci-fi film, Enemy Mine? I think that "Jerry" was in the back of my mind when I did this.>
